Title: A warping based approach to correct distortions in endoscopic images
+info
Authors: Tiago Bonini Borchartt; Aura Conci; Marcos Cordeiro d'Ornellas.
Abstract: This work proposes a technique to correct distortions in endoscopic medical images using concepts of morphing and warping. A triangular mesh is used to apply transformations in each region of the image separately. A chess pattern is used to verify the distortion of the endoscopic system. The same pattern is used to generate the mesh and the equations for the transformations of the warping and morphing step. After the computation of each triangle affine transformations the same equations are used to correct the real endoscopic images.

Abstract: Morphing Techniques are used until now to produce special effects in animations, games and movies. In this work we present an automatic morphing system, based on grid image registration. We consider the problem in two ways. First by using an inverse form in order to correct the problems related to distortion caused in a system of image acquisition for medical endoscopy. Second, by using a method of texture mapping. The two approach are then compared. In the present version the implementation can be used to help physicians on usual stomach exams.

Title: Classification of images using color characteristics and clustering techniques

Authors: Juliano Gomes Weber; Marcos d'Ornellas
Abstract: This paper proposes a new method to extract features from images using a corner detection and clustering techniques. The goal is to store these features in a DBMS, and then use them to Content Based Image Retrieval. Besides encouraging results, the proposed method has a low computational complexity and with satisfactory results.

Title: Integrated strategic planning to the creation of Game Design

Authors: Tiago Keller Ferreira; Jean Carlo Berni; Marcos d'Ornellas
Abstract: In a general context, digital games are increasingly complex and their development costs and investments have been quite high in spite of technological advances and new tools for software development. The reality in the Brazilian game development needs more investments and operates with limited resources. To compensate for this lack of financial resources, Brazilian companies invest in creativity, management and strategy to achieve the success needed to achieve competitiveness. This article proposes the use of strategic planning in the preparation of game design in order to maximize the chance of successful low-cost games, establishing a strategic process that will direct the creation of game design. This paper presents a case study of strategic planning application in creating a game design for a game development company.

Abstract: The usage of computer games by people with special needs sometimes can be difficult because some of them are not used to interact with a keyboard, mouse or gamepads. Some computer games even offer different paradigms of interaction but are no specifically designed to help people with special needs. We are currently facing the problem of developing a game to help Down syndrome children to interact with computers by the means of imitation. Our work presents the first step to provide an interaction framework to automatically recognize broad movements using computer vision concepts for movement recognition.
