| In
several sectors and
areas of the knowledge, documents are
present. According
to the purpose, these
documents have
different structures. Some
have printed
text only,
other have printed
text and handwritten mixed. However, there are those
with more complex structures containing, among
other elements, tables and
figures. Document
Analysis
is an
application of Machine
Vision and aims at the
identification and
recognition of
the elements of
documents automatically. We developed a system that distinguish automatically printed and handwritten words in images representative of documents (forms in general). All material generated in this work is available in the downloads section, where also we offer a form image database (with ground truth) used during the experiments, to be used by other interested researchers.
